The Fray is an American four-piece alternative rock band from Denver, Colorado. Formed in 2002 by schoolmates Isaac Slade and Joe King, The Fray currently consists of Slade (lead vocals, piano), King (guitar, backing vocals), Dave Welsh (lead guitar) and Ben Wysocki (drums, percussion).
The Fray released their debut album, “How to Save a Life” in 2005, which was certified double platinum by the RIAA, and platinum in several other countries. Their first single, “Over My Head (Cable Car),” became a Top 40 hit on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, peaking at #37. The song peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. The song was the fifth-most downloaded single of 2006. Their second single, “How to Save a Life”, peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the sixth longest charting single of all time on the Billboard Hot 100, tying with Santana's “Smooth,” at 58 consecutive weeks. “Over My Head (Cable Car),” was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and “How to Save a Life” was nominated for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 2007.
The band's self-titled second album, released in 2009, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album in 2010. “Never Say Never” was nominated for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal as well. The single “You Found Me” which charted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 was certified double platinum by the RIAA in 2009.
