The Chinese New Year is the most important of the holidays for Chinese. It is defined to be the first day of the first month in the traditional Chinese calendar. Unlike the Christian New Year which is based on a solar calendar, the Chinese New Year is based on a traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar whose date indicates both the moon phase and the time of the solar year.

The eve of the New Year is perhaps the most exciting part of the event, as anticipation creeps in. Be prepared for the Chinese New Year with our top 3 picks!

If enacted, SOPA/PIPA could have disastrous consequences for the basic infrastructure of the Internet. It would afford the Federal government and copyright holders excessive and far-reaching powers to take down sites they deem to be hosting protected content with little regard for the definition of "hosting." -Mashable

On January 18, 2012, the Appitalism community has chosen to blackout the Appitalism.com website for 24 hours, in protest against proposed legislation in the United States — the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the U.S. House of Representatives, and PROTECTIP (PIPA) in the U.S. Senate. If passed, this legislation will harm the free and open Internet and bring about new tools for censorship of international websites inside the United States.

Appitalism will be supporting the SOPA Movement from 12AM EST, January 18th 2012 and will be up and running again on 12AM EST, January 19th, 2012.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, please feel free to contact us with any inquiries at contact@appitalism.com.
